Right at sea level; the lake outflows to the Pacific Ocean via the 120-foot D-River; world's shortest. Really fast water, home of hundreds of speed records. Most years see at least a few teams who have traveled from as far away as the east coast. This year, the east-coast contingent (and lone Inboard) was represented by Dan Kanfoush and his 1-Liter, 'Y-1'. Trouble is, that late in the year, the weather often isn't cooperative. This year saw the worst weather in recent memory. Not good for record-runs; not good for photographers. In deferance to those who had traveled that far, the conducting club; 'Columbia Outboard Racing Association' gamely attempted to wait out the rain and thirty-mile-an-hour winds, but it wasn't to be. An AXS Hydro blew over thirty yards short of entering the traps on the up-wind leg (check out the shot of the never-say-die driver hanging upside down in an impromptu flying machine). And conditions didn't improve. Dan, come back next year; sometimes we hit it right...
